Baccarat Procedures
Baccarat is played with eight decks of cards in a shoe. Cards valued less than 10 are counted at face value while at the same time 10, J, Q, K are 0, and A are each equal to 1. Wagers are placed upon the ‘banker,’ the ‘player’ or for a tie (these aren’t actual people; they just act as the 2 hands to be dealt).
2 hands of two cards shall then be played to the ‘banker’ … ‘player’. The score for each hand shall be the sum of the two cards, but the 1st digit is discarded. For e.g., a hand of seven and 5 will have a score of 2 (sevenplusfive=twelve; drop the ‘one’).
A third card could be given out depending on the following standards:
- If the player or banker has a total of 8 or nine, then both gamblers stand.
- If the player has 5 or less, he/she hits. Players stand otherwise.
- If gambler stands, the banker hits of five or lesser. If the player hits, a chart will be used to see if the banker stands or hits.
Baccarat Odds
The greater of the two scores will be the winner. Successful bets on the banker pay 19 to twenty (even money less a five % commission. Commission is monitored and cleared out when you leave the table so ensure that you have money left before you leave). Winning bets on the player pay 1 to one. Winning bets for tie usually pay out 8 to 1 and sometimes nine to one. (This is an awful bet as ties will happen lower than 1 every 10 hands. Stay away from betting on a tie. Still, odds are greatly better – 9 to 1 versus 8 to 1)
Played smartly, baccarat offers fairly good odds, aside from the tie bet ofcourse.
Baccarat Tactics
As with most games, Baccarat has some common false impressions. One of which is quite similar to a roulette myth. The past is not an indicator of future outcomes. Staying abreast of prior outcomes on a chart is a total waste of paper … an insult to the tree that gave its life for our stationary needs.
The most established and probably most successful tactic is the one-3-2-6 technique. This process is used to pump up wins and lowering risk.
Begin by gambling one unit. If you win, add 1 more to the 2 on the table for a total of three on the second bet. If you win you will have six on the table, take away four so you have two on the third gamble. If you win the third wager, add two to the four on the table for a sum total of six on the fourth gamble.
If you don’t win on the 1st bet, you suck up a loss of 1. A win on the first bet followed up by loss on the second causes a loss of 2. Wins on the first two with a loss on the third gives you a profit of 2. And wins on the first 3 with a loss on the fourth mean you come out even. Winning at all four bets leaves you with twelve, a profit of 10. Thus you can get beaten the second bet 5 times for every successful streak of 4 bets and still break even.
