Punto Banco Standards
Punto banco is enjoyed with 8 decks of cards in a dealing shoe. Cards valued less than 10 are counted at their printed value while at the same time 10, J, Q, K are zero, and A is one. Bets are placed on the ‘banker’, the ‘player’, or on a tie (these are not really people; they simply represent the two hands to be dealt).
Two hands of 2 cards are then dealt to the ‘bank’ and ‘player’. The score for each hand is the sum total of the cards, although the first number is discarded. e.g., a hand of 5 and 6 has a value of one (five plus six equals 11; ditch the 1st ‘one’).
A 3rd card will be given depending on the rules below:
- If the gambler or house has a value of 8 or nine, both players stay.
- If the gambler has less than 5, she hits. Players otherwise hold.
- If the player holds, the banker takes a card on a total less than 5. If the gambler takes a card, a chart is employed to determine if the house stands or hits.
Baccarat Chemin de Fer Odds
The larger of the 2 hands wins. Winning wagers on the house pay out 19 to 20 (even payout less a 5 percent rake. The Rake is tracked and cleared out once you quit the table so ensure you still have cash around before you head out). Winning wagers on the player pays out at 1:1. Winning bets for a tie normally pay 8:1 but sometimes 9 to 1. (This is a bad bet as a tie occurs lower than one in every ten hands. Be cautious of gambling on a tie. However odds are astonishingly better for 9:1 vs. 8:1)
Played properly baccarat provides generally good odds, aside from the tie wager of course.
Baccarat Chemin de Fer Scheme
As with all games punto banco has a few accepted misconceptions. One of which is close to a misconception in roulette. The past isn’t a prophecy of events about to happen. Recording previous outcomes on a chart is a poor use of paper and a snub to the tree that surrendered its life for our paper needs.
The most accepted and probably the most acknowledged plan is the 1-3-2-6 method. This method is used to build up winnings and limit risk.
Begin by placing one unit. If you win, add another to the two on the game table for a total of 3 units on the second bet. If you succeed you will hold six on the table, remove four so you keep two on the third wager. If you win the 3rd bet, add 2 to the four on the game table for a grand total of 6 on the 4th wager.
If you do not win on the initial round, you take a loss of 1. A profit on the first round followed by a hit on the second creates a hit of two. Wins on the first 2 with a hit on the third gives you with a take of two. And wins on the 1st three with a defeat on the 4th means you balance the books. Succeeding at all 4 rounds gives you with 12, a profit of 10. This means you are able to not win on the 2nd bet 5 times for every favorable run of 4 bets and in the end, are even.
