Rules of Baccarat

Baccarat Rules

Baccarat is played with 8 decks of cards. Cards which are valued less than ten are said to be worth their printed number while ten, J, Q, K are 0, and A are each given a value of 1. Wagers are placed on the ‘banker,’ the ‘player’ or for a tie (these aren’t actual individuals; they strictly represent the two hands to be played).

Two hands of 2 cards shall then be dealt to the ‘banker’ … ‘player’. The value for each hand shall be the sum total of the 2 cards, but the 1st digit is dropped. For eg, a hand of 7 as well as 5 has a total score of two (7plus5=12; drop the ‘one’).

A 3rd card might be given out depending on the following rules:

- If the player or banker has a value of eight or nine, the two players stand.

- If the bettor has 5 or lower, he/she hits. Players stand otherwise.

- If gambler stands, the banker hits of five or less. If the player hits, a chart will be used to determine if the banker stands or hits.

Baccarat Odds

The greater of the 2 scores wins. Victorious bets on the banker payout 19 to 20 (even odds less a five percent commission. Commission is tracked and moved out when you leave the table so make sure you have $$$$$ remaining before you leave). Bets on the player that end up winning pay 1 to one. Winning bets for tie commonly pay eight to 1 and occasionally 9 to 1. (This is an awful gamble as ties occur lower than 1 every 10 hands. Avoid placing bets on a tie. Nonetheless odds are greatly better – 9 to 1 vs. 8 to 1)

Played correctly, baccarat provides generally good odds, aside from the tie bet ofcourse.

Baccarat Tactics

As with all games, Baccarat has some established myths. One of which is quite similar to a roulette myth. The past is never actually an actual indicator of future actions. Keeping track of historic outcomes on a chart is definitely a waste of paper … an insult to the tree that gave its life for our stationary needs.

The most popular and probably most successful tactic is the one-three-two-6 concept. This process is deployed to increase profits and controlling risk.

Begin by gambling one unit. If you win, add one more to the 2 on the table for a total of three on the 2nd bet. If you win you will have six on the table, clear away four so you have two on the third wager. If you win the 3rd wager, add 2 to the 4 on the table for a grand total of six on the fourth gamble.

If you lose on the 1st wager, you take a loss of 1. A win on the first bet quickly followed by loss on the 2nd creates a loss of two. Wins on the 1st 2 with a loss on the third gives you a profit of two. And wins on the first 3 with a loss on the fourth mean you break even. Getting a win on all four bets leaves you with 12, a profit of 10. Therefore that you can fail to win the 2nd bet 5 times for every successful streak of 4 bets and still break even.
