Baccarat Chemin de Fer Practices and Strategy

Punto Banco Principles

Baccarat is bet on with 8 decks of cards in a shoe. Cards under ten are counted at face value while at the same time Ten, Jack, Queen, King are zero, and Ace is one. Bets are made on the ‘bank’, the ‘player’, or on a tie (these are not really people; they just represent the two hands to be dealt).

Two cards are dealt to both the ‘house’ and ‘player’. The score for each hand is the sum of the cards, however the beginning digit is dumped. For instance, a hand of five and six has a value of one (5 plus 6 equals 11; ditch the initial ‘one’).

A 3rd card might be given out based on the following rules:

- If the player or house gets a value of 8 or 9, the two players stay.

- If the gambler has five or less, she hits. Players otherwise stand.

- If the player stays, the bank hits on a total less than five. If the gambler takes a card, a guide is employed to determine if the bank stands or takes a card.

Baccarat Banque Odds

The larger of the 2 totals wins. Winning bets on the bank payout 19 to 20 (even payout minus a 5% rake. The Rake is recorded and paid off when you depart the table so ensure you have money remaining before you leave). Winning bets on the player pays 1 to 1. Winning wagers for a tie usually pays 8:1 but on occasion 9:1. (This is a bad wager as a tie occurs lower than 1 in every 10 hands. Be wary of putting money on a tie. However odds are substantially greater for 9 to 1 vs. 8:1)

Played properly punto banco offers relatively good odds, aside from the tie bet of course.

Baccarat Strategy

As with all games Baccarat has some common misconceptions. One of which is close to a false impression in roulette. The past isn’t a prophecy of events yet to happen. Keeping score of previous outcomes at a table is a waste of paper and a snub to the tree that surrendered its life for our stationary needs.

The most common and possibly the most acknowledged scheme is the one-three-two-six method. This plan is employed to maximize earnings and minimizing risk.

Start by betting 1 unit. If you succeed, add another to the two on the table for a grand total of 3 dollars on the second bet. Should you succeed you will retain 6 on the game table, subtract 4 so you are left with 2 on the 3rd round. If you come away with a win on the third wager, deposit 2 to the four on the game table for a grand total of six on the 4th round.

If you lose on the initial round, you take a hit of 1. A profit on the initial wager followed by a loss on the second causes a loss of 2. Wins on the first two with a defeat on the 3rd provides you with a profit of 2. And success on the initial 3 with a hit on the fourth means you are even. Winning at all 4 wagers leaves you with twelve, a gain of 10. This means you will be able to not win on the 2nd wager 5 times for every favorable run of 4 rounds and still balance the books.
